Avi Aharoni's horse farm is located in Moshav Sitria is in central Israel, between the cities of Rehovot and Ramle.
In the ancient world this area was an important crossroads between two major highways: the road from Jaffa to Hebron in one direction, and in the other road linking the tomb of Sheikh Nebu- Salach in Ramle with the tomb of Nabi Rubin on the Mediterranean coast.
Avi's great love for Arabian horses, and particularly Egyptian Arabian horses came about naturally, as both of his parents were born in Egypt. In 1948, with the establishment of the State of Israel, they moved with their family to Israel.
Raising horses was one of Avi's major childhood interests, and approximately ten years ago, he began breeding Arabians in a more serious and professional manner. He started by acquiring a number of horses of Polish and Russian bloodlines, and it didn't take long before he also had acquired some extremely fine Egyptian mares. These mares, which are bred annually to the choicest of the Egyptian stallions of Israel, remain the genetic base of this small breeding program.
Over the years, Avi has bred several horses that have been extremely successful in horse shows in Israel. One of the best is the stallion AA Assal (Laheeb x Asia) who was Israel National Champion Colt both in 2004 and 2005.
Today Avi's herd consists of approximately 20 Arabian horses of extremely high quality.
